The Rubicon Elite Academy is a brand new initiative responding to Perth’s lack of high quality, intense training opportunities for keen, talented junior cricketers over the school holiday period. While sports camps and cricket clinics offer supervision, fun games and the occasional technical tip, the crowded environments and lack of expertise fail to offer cricket-specific development. As such, driven youth cricketers until now could not be satisfied, given there was no outlet to mature and improve over the school holidays. The Rubicon Elite Academy proudly offers a solution: A series of 5-day High Performance Academies designed specifically for district and PSA 1st XI/’A’ cricketers who wish to fast-track their cricket development mentally, physically, tactically and technically.
We pride ourselves on superior training methods and the quality of our coaching and support. Instead of crowding clinics, our elite academy caters for a maximum 12 participants. This way, each of our coaches can devote personal attention to each cricketer. Additionally, we recognise that the opportunity to work alongside other driven cricketers has a positive compound effect. Our method harnesses this power and offers leadership opportunities, mindset and approach improvement, so as to overcome some of the doubts and anxieties associated with sports performance, particularly those common in junior cricketers. We also ensure that students have the opportunity to learn from, meet and ask questions of current professional cricketers, including members of the Perth Scorchers.
Our structure is exclusive and intimate for good reason – we firmly believe that the training environment is imperative for success! Our coaching team works together to cultivate a positive, encouraging and challenging environment, where cricketers are pushed to fulfil their potential in a supportive and inspiring manner. In order to work efficiently through a challenging itinerary structured to maximise development, we can only accept current district level players (or school equivalent) aged 12-17.
The program is cricket focused, however, in addition to preparing our students for on-field success, our academies show how a mature, positive mindset can transcend cricket and improve confidence, decision-making, productivity and leadership at school and in general life. We take this responsibility seriously and aspire to create positive role models in the Perth cricket community.
